A Traveling Art Gallery
We believe that fine art is essential to the emotional health and faith-driven expression of the Christian walk, both in the creation and the consumption of it. Because of how art can work to bolster faith and contribute to meaningful worship, we strongly believe every church body can and should benefit from the presence of fine art in their church building.
However, we understand how difficult it is for many churches to support the arts in a meaningful way. It can cost a lot of precious time, space, and money to support the presence of fine art. And given the choice between a painting and running the church another Sunday, many churches would understandably opt for the latter.
Our solution? An art gallery curated by us and brought to you in a grand Fall tour. This fall tour will bring to each church an art gallery full of physical art made by Christian artists, a zine containing writings from Christian poets and authors, and a compilation album containing select music from Christian songwriters and arrangers, all centered around our annual theme.
Qara' Shem hopes that by providing a practical, streamlined process for multiple churches to experience a professionally curated gallery in a non-permanent way, the cost of hosting fine art would be effectively spread out among the larger church body. By the participation of each church over the course of the fine art tour, every member of each church involved in the tour can be blessed by the fine arts in a way that is attainable, cost-effective and worry-free.
